Ghost Recon Wildlands – What we know so far.

Welcome to the Wildlands.

E3 2015 gave us many exciting announcements and a load more information on titles we already knew we we’re excited about. Right at the end of the Ubisoft’s presentation at E3 this year was one such exciting announcement. Ghost Recon : Wildlands.

The E3 reveal trailer above was surely one spectacular showing. However after the E3 showing, things went dark, no further concrete information or teasers would surface for quite a while. In fact, other than some developer chats and situation reports that can be found at the bottom of this article, still, no real “new” information has come to light. So here’s a short recap of what we know so far.

We know that Wildlands will set the timeline back to present day. A change from the previous two installments in the series, Advanced Warfighter and Future Soldier. We know that the game will be open world and set in a fictional Bolivia, which in the game universe is the largest supplier of drugs in the world. Ubisoft has since stated that this will be the largest open world that they have ever created in an action adventure game.

We also know that players will be able to play either single player with AI teammates or cooperative with other players as teammates. Players will be given a huge amount of freedom and choice when it comes to how to carry out missions. In the first trailer at E3 we were shown a few different ways to complete the same mission. We have also since been told that there would be an even wider variety of ways to complete missions and that this scale of choice would be persistent throughout the game. Scouting and gathering intel also seem to be a integral part of this equation.

Lastly, for now, we know that players will have to build and maintain relationships with certain non-player factions in the game. Such as civilians or rebel forces in the area. Should you for instance decide to build a cooperative relationship with the rebel forces, they will be available to help you with certain missions etc.

Unfortunately we do not know much more about the title for now. Ghost Recon Wildlands has no official release date at time of writing and will be available on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC. We hope to find out much more, including a release bracket in the coming months.
